It covers most of the topics taught in a first course on numerical analysis and requires some basic knowledge of calculus, linear algebra and computing. It has been used as a recommended handbook for courses taught on numerical analysis at undergraduate level. Each chapter ends with a number of questions. Each chapter ends with exercises and contains Mathematica 3.0 modules which can be used to solve some of the questions.
There is extensive literature published on numerical analysis. As a text for a first course in numerical analysis, this handbook contains classical content of the subject with emphases on error analysis, and optimal algorithms and their implementation in computer arithmetic.
