The author has taught this subject as a one semester course to second year university students, first in Nigeria and then in Botswana, and this book has grown out of that experience. The text is therefore a first introduction to vectors and mechanics, with an emphasis on a vectorial approach. It includes a brief introduction to differential equations to make the book self-contained. The book should prove useful to students of mathematics, physics and engineering at undergraduate level. It includes many examples and exercises. The student is urged to work through as many exercises as possible as this is the surest way of gaining mastery of the material covered.
